Digital Studio

Convert Audio & Video Files

Learn to digitize family video and audio files you have at home in VHS and Cassette formats. Attend a one on one session first before using the Studio on your own. One on one sessions are for an hour - 15 minutes of instruction on how to set up and run the conversion process using the VHS and cassette converting equipment. It will be followed by a 45 minute individual session for conversion.

  • Please bring a sample VHS or cassette along so we can walk you through the process of converting the physical media to saving the converted file in a digital format.
  • Conversions are in real time (a 30 minute VHS tape will take 30 minutes to convert to an MP4 file).
  • Plan to digitize no more than 45 minutes of video or audio.
  • Patrons must bring their own SD card or USB drive, which should have a capacity of at least 2 gigabytes in order to store the finished file, if they are converting VHS. Alternatively, if patrons have access to cloud storage that can fit a file of that size, that can be used as well.

One on one orientations are available on Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. Click here to pick the date of your choice. If you are unable to attend at the designated time, fill out our One-on-One Appointment Form and a librarian will contact you to schedule a time to meet at the Main Library.

DIY sessions are available on a first come first served basis and you must show proof of having attended the orientation. Please check-in with staff at Newspapers and Magazines desk with a library card and certificate.
